8. Dashboard
The Dashboard is the main starting point after sign-in when the customer still needs plan activation or mailbox connection. Once they have an active subscription/trial (or free access) and are past Get started, login and /app open makeo Agent directly — not the empty Dashboard hub placeholder.
In the sidebar it appears as Get started until the customer has an active subscription (or trial) and at least one connected mailbox; then the label changes to Dashboard. Clicking Dashboard opens makeo Agent (the home workspace until a real Dashboard hub ships). Logo click still toggles makeo Agent open/closed — closing Agent returns to the previous workspace view (for example Inbox), not an empty Dashboard placeholder.
On desktop, compact mail stats and Notifications sit in the header. Connect and dark/light mode live under makeo Agent → Settings. Billing, add-ons, and account deletion are under Workspace → Account. AI (automation) opens from Workspace → Preferences. Switch the active mailbox from the rail account picker on mail views — that choice applies across the app, including makeo Agent. With more than one mailbox, a Mailbox picker sits at the top of Workspace → Preferences, Knowledge, and Email, so Auto organize, Organize now, Auto drafts, folders, draft style, and signature apply to the mailbox you pick. Email Tasks shows tasks across all connected mail accounts.
The Dashboard can help customers:
- Start a trial.
- Choose a plan.
- Connect an email account.
- See connected account status.
- Continue setup.
- Navigate to Email, Knowledge Hub, and Settings.
- Understand what needs to be completed before makeo can work fully.
If no email account is connected, the Dashboard will usually guide the customer toward plan activation and email connection. After a subscription or trial is active, the Connect your email step offers Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, and IMAP only — LinkedIn is connected later from makeo Agent Settings → Connect, not during that mailbox onboarding step. When the first mailbox connects successfully — and on later logins when a plan/trial is already active — makeo Agent expands automatically so the customer lands in the agent workspace instead of the empty Dashboard hub.
If someone navigates toward the Dashboard hub after email is connected and a plan/trial is active, makeo redirects immediately to makeo Agent — that hub is not a destination while it is being rebuilt. Auto organize / Auto drafts On/Off and Organize now live under makeo Agent → AI → Automation and Workspace → Preferences. Those three apply to one mailbox at a time; with more than one connected mailbox, pick it at the top of Preferences, Knowledge, or Email first. On a phone, Workspace → Preferences opens Automation and Knowledge. Folder rules, draft tone/style, and signature are edited in Workspace → Email (Folders, Draft, Signature).
8.1 Dashboard Analytics
Dashboard analytics (emails organized, drafts created, time saved, and related metrics) are temporarily hidden from the Dashboard hub while that surface is rebuilt. The metrics still exist in the product data model and may return in a later Dashboard update.
8.2 How Time Saved Is Estimated
Time saved is an estimate, not an exact stopwatch measurement.
The current product logic can estimate:
- Around 30 seconds saved per organized email.
- Per AI-generated draft: word count of the draft ÷ average typing speed (~40 WPM, typical keyboard range 35–45), plus a small base for opening and reviewing. That models time you would have spent typing — not speaking (speech is roughly 3–4× faster). Short replies add less; longer emails add more (capped so one draft does not dominate).
- Per voice dictation (composer mic / Voice message, and desktop hotkeys ⌃⌥ / ⌥⌘): word count of the transcript credited as typing time minus speaking time (~40 WPM vs ~135 WPM). Example: ~300 words is about 7–8 minutes to type but ~2 minutes to say — most of that difference counts toward Saved. Tiny utterances (under 3 words) are ignored.
Drafts counts AI drafts from email auto-drafts, Social AI draft, Comments AI draft, and makeo Agent actions such as Draft reply and Improve (mail and social/comments). Manual edits you type yourself without an AI generation do not increment Drafts.
This gives customers a practical sense of how much manual inbox and reply work makeo has reduced.
Example:
If makeo organizes 100 emails, the estimated time saved can be around 50 minutes. An ~40-word social reply is about a minute of typing time; an ~200-word email draft is around five minutes.
8.3 Dashboard Automation Controls
When email is connected, the Dashboard shows the active mail automation controls.
Current controls:
- Auto organize.
- Auto drafts.
Auto organize is off after a mailbox is connected. Turn it on under makeo Agent → AI for new mail, or run Organize now for a one-time batch. Categories start off under Knowledge → Folders — turn each one on before mail is moved or labeled. Sent/outbound mail is not organized. When Auto organize is on, new mail is classified in near real time into the categories you enabled.
Auto drafts prepares reply drafts only when a written reply is needed — never auto-sends. The same switches live under makeo Agent → AI for the active mailbox. Draft reply in chat follows the same gate. New compose, Improve, and send are not blocked by Auto drafts. Social AI draft is separate and chosen per platform (Messenger, Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack).
Organize now (50 / 100 / All) runs a one-time batch on existing mail without changing the Auto organize setting. You can also ask makeo in chat (or over iMessage) to turn automation on/off or run Organize now.
Notifications open from the header bell: AI drafts ready, leads, and other workspace alerts. Device alerts toggles browser push for this device. Entries are kept for about 24 hours.
Notification permissions are device-specific. If a customer wants notifications on multiple devices or browsers, they must enable notifications on each one. If notifications are blocked in the browser or operating system settings, makeo cannot turn them on until the customer allows them there.
On iPhone and iPad, Apple only supports Web Push for installed web apps. If notifications are not available in the browser, tapping the top-bar toggle can open install guidance. The customer must open makeo in Safari, choose Add to Home Screen, then open makeo from the Home Screen icon before enabling notifications.
Supported Web Push event types include AI draft ready, captured lead, and setup test notifications. Each notification is sent only to users who have enabled notifications on the current browser/device.
Important Web Push events such as AI drafts and leads stay visible on supported desktop browsers until the user dismisses or opens them. Mobile operating systems, especially iOS, may still decide how long a banner remains visible. On iPhone PWA, after app updates, close makeo fully and reopen it from the Home Screen icon so notifications stay reliable. Toggling device alerts off and on once can also refresh notification setup.
8.4 Mobile App Navigation
On phones and narrow screens, the makeo app sidebar is hidden by default. Use the menu button in the top-left corner to open navigation, switch sections, and reach Settings and Log out at the bottom of the menu. The main workspace scrolls vertically on mobile so Dashboard cards and settings pages remain reachable on small screens.
